RRS in Hosur.

Tamil Nadu, India

Hosur — about an hour east of Bengaluru — is India's premier drag racing venue. The Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd (TAAL) airstrip here is one of the only locations in the country with the dedicated, kilometre-long straight that drag racing physically requires: roughly 402 metres of race plus another 650 metres of clean shutdown for cars and bikes that are running deep into the eight-second range. Every round of the FMSCI Indian National Drag Racing Championship 4W (INDRC) and every edition of the Vroom Drag Meet is run here.

Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd — the venue

TAAL operates an active airfield, with a section of the runway used for organised drag racing. The 2025 INDRC season ran 5 rounds here. The Vroom Drag Meet has run 13 editions at this venue since 2016, and is the largest FMSCI-approved open drag racing event in India. The Indian quarter-mile record (8.693 seconds, Audi R8 V10+) was set here in December 2025 at the Vroom Drag Meet.

Why Hosur for drag racing — and not, say, BIC or Chicane

Buddh International Circuit is a road course; its straights are not laid out for sanctioned drag with the shutdown lengths and run-up safety zones that an 8-second machine demands. Chicane in Hyderabad is a 1.2 km karting circuit and physically cannot host a quarter-mile run. Taneja's runway gives drag the dedicated, dead-straight, properly shut-off length the format needs. That is why every serious drag round in India ends up here.

Common questions about motorsport in Hosur

Where exactly is the Hosur drag strip?+

It is the runway at Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd (TAAL) at Hosur, Tamil Nadu — about an hour east of Bengaluru, just across the Karnataka–Tamil Nadu border.

Why is drag racing held at Hosur and not at a permanent circuit?+

Drag racing needs about a kilometre of straight — roughly 402 metres of race plus 650 metres of shutdown — that road-racing circuits like BIC or Chicane simply do not have laid out. The TAAL airstrip provides exactly that.

Are there other formats run at Hosur?+

The TAAL site is primarily used for organised drag racing (INDRC and the Vroom Drag Meet). It is an active airfield, not a permanent motorsport facility, and access is event-by-event in coordination with Taneja Aerospace and the FMSCI organizers.
