Do I need FMSCI sanctioning to run a TSD rally?+

No — TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) rallies are typically run as open events. Club TSDs, college motorsport fests and corporate treasure-hunt formats run without FMSCI sanctioning. RRS still applies the same scoring rigour as a sanctioned event.

How does RRS handle TSD scoring and penalty calculation?+

Crews target a declared average speed across each leg. Tablet TC input captures actual time of arrival at every checkpoint; RRS computes early / late penalties per the supplementary regulations, applies them live and ranks crews by total penalty across the route.

What hardware does RRS need for a TSD rally?+

Just tablets / smartphones at every time control — no transponder hardware required. Crews navigate with a road book; marshals input arrival times into RRS, which handles all the math live.
