Track days in India — what they are, where, and how to take part.
A track day is the safest way to drive your own car or bike fast — closed circuit, run groups by skill, no wheel-to-wheel. India has four real circuits where this happens, and most track days are organised by owners' clubs, OEM brand teams or specialist promoters.
What this looks like in practice
Run groups split by experience (novice / intermediate / advanced). Mandatory safety briefing, scrutineering of helmet, harness, tyres and brakes. Sessions of 15–25 minutes, paddock between sessions. Optional timing for those who want lap times. No trophies, no eliminations — the point is seat time.
Where it actually happens
- Madras International Circuit (MIC)Chennai, Tamil Nadu
FIA Grade 2 circuit. Most active track day venue in India for cars.
- Buddh International Circuit (BIC)Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Former F1 circuit. Hosts high-end track days when available.
- Kari Motor SpeedwayCoimbatore, Tamil Nadu
National-level circuit. Track days for cars and bikes.
- MMRT (Madras Motor Race Track)Chennai, Tamil Nadu
India's original purpose-built circuit. Still used for track days and racing.
How to take part
Public track days are organised by clubs, promoters and OEMs — book through their channels. Helmet, gloves, long sleeves and a roadworthy vehicle that passes scrutineering are usually mandatory. For private club / brand track days, entry is by invitation through the organising club or OEM.
Who runs it (and where RRS fits)
In India, track days are organised by owners' clubs (multi-brand and single-brand), OEM brand teams running customer or dealer days, and specialist promoters. RRS is the operations partner for the private side — we do not sell public tickets and do not run open-to-all track days under our own brand.
Common questions
What is a track day?+
A track day is a non-competitive session where car or motorcycle owners drive their own vehicles on a closed circuit, in run groups by experience level. No timing trophies, no wheel-to-wheel racing. The point is seat time on a real circuit, safely.
Where do track days happen in India?+
Mainly at the four full circuits — Madras International Circuit (Chennai), Buddh International Circuit (Greater Noida), Kari Motor Speedway (Coimbatore) and the MMRT historic circuit (Chennai). Most track days are organised by owners' clubs, OEM brand teams or specialist promoters renting circuit time.
Are track days only for supercars or expensive cars?+
No. Most public track days run by clubs accept any roadworthy car or motorcycle that passes basic safety scrutineering — helmets, harness, tyres, brakes. Supercar-specific track days exist but are usually private events run by owners' clubs or OEMs.
Can RRS organise a track day for our club or brand?+
Yes — we run private track days for owners' clubs, brand teams and OEM activations. Operations, run-group structure, scrutineering, timing (where wanted), paddock and gate. Production via long-trusted partners. We don't sell tickets to the general public for these — they're private.
